Saw a commercial for the 2015 Kia Sedona and this is the first thought that came into my head. Anybody else think this?

It looks quite good.

I think that's a good thing. Why buy something that looks so boring as a GC/TC when you can but this awesome thing, including this awesome interior:
Even the Sienna and Quest are more interesting than the old Caravan/Oddessey choices.

A center console on a minivan is weird. That space needs to be open so parents have easy access to turn around and slap their kids.

Having a center console really makes a difference in how it looks. much better than those stupid dash mounted shifters the other guys have. in this if you don't look in the mirror you would think you are driving a nice big car.
If I was spending money for a van this is the one I'd buy.

It's better than those awful dash-mounted shifters

Although if you look at safety rather than interior I'd rather have the Honda because it was really the only one where the A-pillar collapsed and the drivers compartment got all smashed. Although I'm not looking at Mini-vans so this doesn't apply to me one bit. Just adding another side to this I guess.

The Sienna has both a dash-mounted shifter and a center console.
All the better for driving your minivan up to some place with a red velvet rope out front, with these fashionable people in tow.

I mean, the rest of the interior isn't bad. But no, the shifter should be in that pointless gap in front of the cup holders.

That gap is far from pointless. It's the purse nook.

So hang the purse over the shifter

I'd take one of these over a GC/TC any day. That's not to discount them, they're surprising vans with fun to be had...Buuuuut KIA/Hyundai have their stuff together nowadays and are churning some pretty impressive vehicles!

Minivans have to be a huge challenge to style, since by definition, they're just a big box on wheels. Under the constraints they had, I'd say Kia did a pretty damn good job and made something about as attractive as a minivan can reasonably get.

That is very true. I do like the look of it, but at first glance it does remind me of the Caravan/Routan. Kia and Hyundai have definitely improved in recent years. I test drove a Optima Turbo for their $25 test drive promo and was surprised at how much it didn't suck.

I like the open space. It allows me to set my bag of snacks right next to the driver's seat while I am on a road trip.

Growing up, my mom had a '96 Town & Country. She put her purse down there. When she got around to replacing it, she wanted more of a crossover, and complained that in many of them with center consoles, she didn't have a spot for her purse.
